Werk und Geschichte: Musikalische Analyse und historischer Entwurf
Edited on behalf of the »Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung Preußischer Kulturbesitz« by Thomas Ertelt. Mainz (et al.): Schott, 2005. 272 pp., Hardcover, € 54,95, ISBN 3-7957-0508-8.

This publication includes all papers given at the symposium »Werk und Geschichte. Musikalische Analyse und historischer Entwurf« which was held in Berlin on May 9-10, 2000 at the »Staatliches Institut für Musikforschung« in honour of Prof. Dr. Rudolf Stephan on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The subject of the symposium inquires into the interrelations of analytical, aesthetic and historical approaches to musical artworks - a line of inquiry that is characteristic of Stephan’s thinking, and which the contributions address in a variety of ways.
